Taking advantage of some
free time to blog a few lines while my students are working on an essay
discussion question. They are like me, writing does not come easy, especially
when one has to write in one’s second language, but I manage. Well, I am back
on my CASA case and busy with visitations, court hearings and legal proceedings
while also trying hard not to become too emotionally involved. But I have to admit
that my young CASA child has already captivated my heart. Children are amazingly
resilient. I so wish every child had a chance to grow up being fully loved and
happy. Apart from CASA, I have another full week left of summer classes and then
I will be off to visit friends in Charleston and Columbia, SC. After Charleston,
I will go to Indiana for a week-long academic workshop and will return to Nola
by the middle of July to spend the rest of my summer at the library working on
my research. That’s a must! Maybe I’ll find a little time to sneak in a weekend
at Seagrove or Grayton beach in Florida. A summer without a trip to the beach won’t
feel like summer, and my dog loves chasing seagulls along the seashore at
sunrise and sundown. I must take her and along with her, a good l-r book!
Also, last
week I started training for the St Jude Marathon and am slowly getting acclimated
to the heat; hydrating and going out early in the mornings is key. Lastly, my
fundraising for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital is going very well. I already reached my initial goal and
decided to increase it from $500 to $1,000. Some very generous friends have quickly
come through and I hope to hear from many more people in support of my run. If
you want to support my run and contribute to the incredible work of St Jude
Hospital, below is the link to my St Jude hero’s page. Thanks!
