Travel memoirs

Finally I have some time after a busy week to blog a few thoughts about my recent travels. To be sure, I am still recovering both physically and emotionally from what I have deemed one of my best travel experiences, so much so that I am missing my traveling group still… And what made the experience fantastic? So many things but I’ll mention a few: my group and specially the students who were very respectful of cultural differences and were adventurous and flexible. It helped to have spent a whole semester in class with them prior to the trip, where we got to know each other, talked about the importance of being open minded and flexible, having an adventurous spirit and a heart full of love and passion when one travels. They also learned quite a bit about the history and culture of Turkey and Greece. Besides the students, the other adults in the group were upbeat, positive, and fun. Also, the people with whom we connected in both Turkey and Greece were fabulous. I of course made the best of my time and found time to connect with everyone in my group and also with total strangers from other countries. One night I joined a Greek dancing group and later that same night I jumped on to a Latin dance floor, dragging with me students and colleagues. I overheard the students say to each other a few times, “It is so much fun to travel with Dr. Rincón!” I try to make the best of every travel experience because those incredible moments enrich our human existence, if we allow ourselves the freedom of being…
