It is still raining out there, but I am heading out
anyway!
Welcome to my blog!

Rain rain rain
Awaiting for the rain to subside and also feeling tempted to
go out there anyway, I now sit in front of my laptop to distract myself while writing
a few lines. Life does not always go as planned especially when the planning is
not well planned, like not looking at the weather forecast in advance. I set up
the alarm for 5:00am to be out there by no later than 5:30 am. I wanted to get
an early start because I have a 16-mile run on my training schedule for today
and did not want to be running in the dead heat of the late morning hours. Not
only does the heat exhaust me, but for the last few weeks I have been dealing with
a spread of rashes on my body that I think are caused by the extreme heat. I
love this sport but not what it does to my skin. I am careful to protect myself
from the sun but for a few days I have not used any sunscreen thinking that
perhaps the heat, combined with the sunscreen, is causing the rashes. For my
skin’s sake I can’t wait for cooler weather to arrive. In addition, running in
the heat has a clear impact on one’s pace. So maybe I am getting close to my
desired pace already. My coach tells me that I am going to fly. My next
marathon is in December in Memphis, TN, and it should be deliciously frisky cold--best running
weather!
