Unforgettable times

Last week was unforgettable for many reasons: new wonderful friends and connections at so many levels of human interaction, laughter and dancing every night until the wee hours of dawn, waking up late every morning to the breathtaking beauty of the ocean and lucky enough to spot a whale or two in the distance, coffee in hand, and cool snuggle-up kind of weather. I could not have asked for a better time. The day before I left for P-town, I submitted an article for a publisher’s review and I received positive news about my work while I was away. I was delighted and much encouraged.  Then today, a fascinating and mysterious encounter of which I have had a few in my life... A friend had major surgery last week and I made her some of my home-made healing and powerful lentil soup with all fresh garlic, onions, tomatoes, and everything I know to restore the body. I walked into her place with good tidings of good food and fresh fruits and I was greeted by her friend, a professor from California who is visiting my friend for a few days to help her during her recovery. A conversation begins and three academicians in one room can talk for ever. We talked about our various fields of study and she said to me that her sister was also an Early Christianity scholar. Then she mentioned her sister's name and I could not believe that I had just met the sister of one of my most favorite scholars in my field. I have all of her books; the world is a very small place!
