My nephew Daniel, never too old for his aunt's cuddling love. I am so proud of you! |
Welcome to my blog!

About Hugo Chávez's health
In spite of my criticism of his radical governance of Venezuela, I am
praying for the health of President Hugo Chávez. I hope he recovers from
whatever form of cancer he is fighting. The government has been very secretive
about his condition and all his medical treatments have been done in Cuba with
Cuban doctors. The Venezuelan people have been kept in the dark with no concrete
knowledge or information about his real condition. I fear an uprising from
those who oppose so many violations to a democratic resolution, including the recent
decision by the Venezuelan Supreme Court to allow Chávez indefinite time to recover
before being sworn in as president for his next term. Since he is ill, I don’t necessarily
oppose the time given for him to recover, but I dislike the authoritarian and
antidemocratic decisions made by the Chavistas who have had absolute power to
govern. My greatest fear is that if Chávez dies there would be an uprising and
the worst outbreak of violence between Chavistas and the opposition. I
specially worry about my young nephew, Daniel, who is serving in the military
as well as all the other young military servicemen and women who would be put in
harm’s way. I do hope that Chávez recovers, even if it is just long enough to create
a more peaceful passage of governance.
